How widespread is health insurance in California? It turns out we’re near the bottom of the heap. The California Health Care Foundation reports that as a percentage of population, we have the eighth highest non-insurance rate in the country (Texas is the worst). Which state comes closest to universal health insurance? Minnesota, which rarely seems to get recognized as arguably the most liberal state in the nation.
